However this had not been as much appreciated as even CR 5A which does not have this feature! Nakamichi’s strengths are its Dual Capstan Drive with Pressure Pad less transport and its Unique Parmaloy Heads. Also Nakamichi Electronics are pretty good internally with adjustments for Metering, Playback Level/ High Frequency Adjustment as well recording Bias/ Recording Sensitivity Level. From my 15 years of regularly restoring these 25 Plus Year old Cassette Recorders, I notice that only with correct service using Nakamichi Tools you can bring the Nakamichi Magic back in its Sound performance. Low Noise and fantastic Dolby C (Dolby Laboratories Developed Dolby C with Nakamichi) in Playback and records beautifully. So here I offer a nice No nonsense Cassette Deck 1 if you do not want to spend lot for Dragon or CR 7A but want a decent Nakamichi recorder which can play tapes recorded on other machines without proper Azimuth setting, This feature makes it a great Nakamichi for playback. However, properly Aligned Cassette Deck 1 can record as good as any other 3 Head Nak. After Calibration I enjoyed its musicality as much I enjoy a Dragon or CR 7A due entirely to Azimuth adjust for Pre recorded Tapes. Gear Drive Motor Replaced. Belts – New Belts.
