Manufactured ca 1984, this Walkman is just a bit larger than an audio cassette case (thicker), uses a single AA battery, and is a true marvel of Sonys engineering of that period. And it sounds quite as good as it looks. Also known as the Super Walkman, this amazing device created quite a stir when it was released. This particular unit is in a bit better than average cosmetic condition considering its age. The body has no noticeable scratches and a few small dents on the back side, cassette door plastic window has blemishes from prolonged storage in its case (very common issue for this model). Playback head and pinch roller have minimal wear. The unit is cleaned, refurbished, tested, and sounds great. All of the functions work fine: play, fast forward, rewind. Auto stop is working in play mode as it should. The switches and corresponding modes for tape type (Normal and CrO2/Metal), and Dolby B noise reduction work fine. Battery compartment is clean, except the + terminal that had some battery leak residue. No missing parts or screws, no cracked reel gears. The following was done to this Walkman to ensure its performance. Cleaned thoroughly inside and outside. Transport contacts cleaned with Deoxit. The speed was checked using the 3 kHz test tape.
