Manufactured ca 1983, this Walkman is almost exact size of an audio cassette case, uses a single AA battery, and is a true marvel of Sonys engineering of that period. And it sounds quite as good as it looks. Also known as the Super Walkman, this amazing device created quite a stir when it was released. This particular unit is in better than average cosmetic condition considering its age. It has a small dent on the corner of the body near the SONY script and a tiny dent on the SONY WALKMAN panel. Backside also has a few tiny scratches from regular use. Otherwise, its anodized aluminum body has no damage. The belt clip looks quite new, did not get yellow with age, and is intact; no breakage. The unit is cleaned, refurbished, tested, and sounds great. All of the functions work fine: play, fast forward, rewind. Auto stop is working in play mode as it should. The switches and corresponding modes for tape type (Normal and CrO2/Metal), and Dolby B noise reduction work fine. Battery compartment is clean. No missing parts, screws, or cracked reel gears (a common problem with these units). Playback head and pinch roller are in great condition. The following was done to this Walkman to ensure its performance. Cleaned thoroughly inside and outside. Transport contacts cleaned with Deoxit. The speed was checked using 3 kHz test tape. Capstan and pinch roller cleaned, playback head cleaned and demagnetized. Please check the photos to see the unit condition, and feel free to ask questions.
