The Sony WM-EX562 was a 1997 high-range model from Sony that offered Sony sound quality and prestige in a market that had seen considerable innovation and competition over the preceding two decades. The size of the device is barely larger than a cassette case, and the use of advanced semi-conductor technology results in an extremely small and light player that slips easily into a bag or trouser/jacket pocket. The sound is powerful and dynamic with vastly improved sonic capabilities compared to it’s rivals from lesser manufacturers. The EX562 represents the peak of Walkman miniaturization and portable magnetic tape reproduction. Presented here is a Silver UK edition of the WM-EX562. As you can see from the pictures it is in excellent condition. There are some light usage marks on the chassis and we have tried to make these clear in the pictures, but please ask if you would like some more snaps. It is otherwise spotlessly clean and appears to have had little use in it’s 24-year lifetime. It has also benefited from a full service. This is easily one of the best looking Walkman in our collection, and we will be sorry to see it go. Work undertaken includes a new drive belt fitted, the playback speed has been calibrated, the volume potentiometer and hold switch de-oxidized, the tape-head demagnetized, and the tape-head, pinch rollers and capstans cleaned. The head is is excellent condition and shows no sign of wear and the tape path is sparkly clean. The unit operates from a single AA battery which provides up to 35 hours of continuous cassette playback. We have included a brand-new blank TDK FE90 Type 1/Normal Bias Cassette ubiquitous in the era! And the original Sony. RM-WME654 LCD Remote Headphones. For future reference, these units benefit from a well recorded Chrome position tape, and premium quality headphones. This WALKMAN will provide many years of listening pleasure.
