Nakamichi CR 7A – Discrete 3 Head Cassette Recorder. With RM 7C wireless Remote. Serviced / Calibrated using Nakamichi Alignment Tapes/ Tools. Note: This CR 7A uses Idler Tire for Spool drives and generally requires change if regularly used in about three years. It is highly recommended to upgrade the drive to Gear Drive Spooling. The Motor and gear teeth bearing Spool hubs are not available anywhere. As such the recorder is fantastic sounding as it is. CR 7A has many modern features not found in other Nakamichi Recorders and I would rate CR 7A to be one of the Top 3-4 Cassette Recorders due to the ease of Auto Calibration. Nakamichi Dual Capstan drive with Pressure Pad lifter and Nakamichi Heads result in Fantastic Record/Play response. Modern PCB assembly with great Metering with Low Noise circuits makes this a pleasure to own and operate. Only listening to CR 7A will be the way to understand what I mean here. Another fantastic Manual Play Head Azimuth adjustment feature makes it one of the few Naks suitable for playing tapes recorded on other machines or Pre Recorded Tapes in High speed duplication misses the correct azimuth in recording. But to make it work, it needs correct belt, Transport Cleaning and Head alignment to Nakamichi standards. Also one needs to calibrate the Analog Digital Converter setup for accurate Auto Calibration along with Head Alignment. The service manual lists over 25 steps for setting up this recorder. This machine was serviced with all these steps to make it work like it should. Note Blemishes and small nicks on the Top Edge and it is not mint but great cosmetic condition for 30+ year Deck.
