Black Sony Walkman WM-609. Here’s a lovely Sony Walkman WM-609 – based on a later revision of the WM-101 chassis, but much more robust and reliable. Stuck a new belt in it, cleaned the rollers, capstans and head and it’s playing just beautifully in both directions, complete with the original leather slip cover and battery pack. Unlike everyone else out there I price my Walkman’s fairly – I just need to get my slice of the pie – this is priced to sell quickly and cheaper that the other Refurbished WM-10’s, 20’s and 30’s on. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and a new belt installed – the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds as it should and fast-forwards when the button is held. All gears have been checked and are intact. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis – sounds as good as the day it was new and should not give you any trouble for years to come. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described!
