Boxed 1982 Sony Walkman WM-4 in very good condition and in full working order after complete refurbishment. The Walkman comes in its original numbered box with original carry strap and a pair of working Sony MDR-05 headphones. BOTH the flywheel belt and the idler/rewind assembly belt have been replaced with new precision DeckTech belts. All the aluminium electrolytic capacitors in the unit have been replaced with new Panasonic capacitors. The motor has been replaced. The play head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. The rubber on the idler wheels has been cleaned. The mechanism and the motor have been lubricated. The motor speed has been calibrated. The volume control pot has been cleaned with Deoxit. The circuit boards have been checked and cleaned. The unit is in very good condition both inside and out. There are a small number of surface marks on the front of the unit (see and zoom on photos 4 & 8 and 9 in particular), but the front casing is in generally very good condition as is the rest of the casing. The battery compartment and contacts are in very good condition and are free of corrosion, as is the circuitry. The degraded foam cushioning on the battery cover has been removed and replaced. The box is in poor condition but fully intact The plastic insert is in very good condition. The Sony batteries in the photos are non-functioning and are for display purposes only as is the tape. Please study all the photographs carefully. The controls are all functioning and playback quality is very good and very loud! The volume control is smooth and not’scratchy’.
