I`m offering CENTRAL and COUNTER GEAR REPAIR and professional restoration for the Sony WM-D3 cassette Walkman. WM-D3 is more complex then regular DD models and in 99% the counter/reel gear is also broken. The indicator of broken counter/reel gear is not working REVERSE function. If you can`t rewind the tape, but the motor is running that means the counter/reel gear is cracked and it slips on the axle. Repairment of the gears is done professionally as you can see from the picture. The repaired CENTRAL gear has 1-2 teeth more than original, but this DOES NOT AFFECT any aspect of the functionality, not even theoretically. COUNTER(REW) GEAR is enforced with a brass ring which holds it in place, reduce the crack to minimum and prevent further gear cracking. I have spent a lot of time of trial and error and I have developed the best way to repair this problems. The central gear repair. The gear will also be enforced with brass ring, which makes it quite bulletproof. Replacing the counter belt. Replacing the capstan belt if neccessary. Cleaning and lubing the mechanics. Replacing missing screws, adjusting the tape speed, demagnetizing the head as any other small repair. If something bigger is broken it will be added to the price.
