I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Very rare and sought-after Sony Walkman WM-DX100 in used condition. Mechanically it’s working perfectly, the old belt had perished so I’ve replaced it, cleaned the head, rollers, and capstans so now it plays perfectly, in both directions at the correct speed without wow or flutter, rewinds and fast-forwards, Dolby B and C and the Megabass functions all work perfectly. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned – so the volume adjusts perfectly without dropout. The battery contacts are corrosion free. Complete with Headphone adaptor and AA Battery Pack – all tested and working. I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives.
