This AIWA HS-PL706 is fully operational and sounds fantastic. It has been professionally restored by Sergiu Reinhardt in Romania (known online as MagneticBlood). This involved completely cleaning and restoration of the mechanism, correct belt replacement, as well as replacement of all needed capacitors. The device has been adjusted for correct speed and Dolby level. This is one of the later models where they were no longer using the bi-azimuth heads. So the azimuth is fixed at factory and not adjustable. I have owned it for a few years since restoration and lovingly maintained it, keeping the heads, pinch rollers, and captans immaculate. Both directions of playback work correctly, and all features work perfectly. This is one of the rarest and best sounding AIWAs, and the only model that contains a three step BBE selector switch, m. A very rare feature in AIWA portables. On top of that, you also have DSL which offers powerful bass and loudness enhancement. This model has very good wow and flutter performance.. The best of any I have ever owned and is comparable to a deck when stationary. This model has some minor wear cosmetically, and will come with a standard AIWA AAA battery adapter and a rechargeable lithium battery (using USB-c).
