The Toa BA-400 is a commercial multiple cassette player from 1979 (going into the early eighties), featuring four decks for endless playback. This vintage device is in excellent working condition. These were used in nightclubs, and other large businesses such as casinos, shopping centres etc. That required a constant customised unattended music stream. This device is intentionally mono, as stereo could not be properly appreciated in most business set-ups, and customers might find themselves in the vicinity of a single speaker. These devices were made obsolete in the mid 80’s with the advent of multiple CD stack systems. The device is highly functional and designed-to-purpose – it has no internal amp (Din plug to RCA adaptor cables are provided) – no volume, no treble, no bass nor Dolby, no pause, no FF nor RW, no headphone jack, no record option – what the mechanism does offer, is permanent looped play of 4 cassettes, with an option to listen to one side of a cassette, or one full cassette, before it automatically goes onto the next one, – to repeat the cycle endlessly if required.
