PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE FOR MORE INFO! I can repair all type of DD Walkmans which have a main center gear. I have by now fixed maybe over 500 DD’s back to factory operational condition. People have send them to me from all over the world. I do not recommend doing it yourself. I have had many people send me their DD walkman after they failed. By that time many parts are missing or have been broken.. It is not just installing a gear, but you have to also know how to calibrate the gear so it doesn’t make noise and hits and damage other gears. The sliding mechanism which pushes the head to the tape can break if you don’t know how to remove it. Tiny springs and rings can fly away and get lost. Reels can get loose. Wires may need to be soldered. Disc rubbers need to be changed. Small gears can crack. Switches can get stuck. Screws can get lost. The motor may fail. Speed can be too fast or too slow on some models. Azimuth can be off. Capacitors can go bad. I can go on and on! A new gear installation will cost around 70 Euro’s and for the D3 and F5, 75 Euro’s, because they are more complex. That includes basic maintenance like making sure all parts are oiled and cleaned. Any other fixes like a new small gear is an extra 15 Euro’s. Replacement slide mechanism is an extra 25 Euro’s. Small other problems are 2 to 10 Euro’s extra. Most normal DD walkmans need only a new gear and some servicing, so additional costs are usually none existent or quite low. I only use OEM like center gears. So no gears that you have to screw or glue in. Some even put a few more teeth between the crack which is still a bad solution, because it can crack again and it still gives more wow and flutter. The Walkman will truly work like new again with my repair. I do it with passion and I see it as a mission to safe as many as I can, because these are some of the best sounding walkmans ever made. These are the DD models I can fix. I can also fix the other bigger DD models with belt. These models usually also have bad capacitors. The professional D6C and D6 I can also service and fix.
