Released in 1997 as the basic all in one device, using good performance mechanism and electronics (similar to EX3/EX5/EX655/FX855, head thrust and complete lift-off of pinch rollers). LCD remote control with all basic transport & radio & sound mode & rec controls. Integrated stereo recording capability (forward direction only), either from radio tuner or from external microphone. 18 hours continuous tape playback with the original 600 mAh rechargeable battery and alkaline battery used together. Dolby B noise reduction (playback only). Very good frequency response interval for playback -> 20 – 18k Hz. 100 -> 10k Hz recoding frequency interval (focused on voice, radio stereo music sounds pretty decent tough), automatic recording level, only type I tapes. Automatic tape type selection. Equipped with Mega Bass, Groove. Although the unit was new, and had not a spec of dust on it or inside, it was refurbished meaning complete disassembly, deep cleaning of old oil & grease. New oil for all plastic to metal & metal to metal friction points (capstans, gears, motor), v aseline on hinges and door guides. New rubber belt fitted. Of the pinch rollers. In rubber conditioner fluid for 24 hours. Cleaning of the potentiometers and switches (including remote) with contact cleaner. Tape path checked with SONY MC-112C mirror cassette (door disassembled). Speed checked and adjusted TEAC test tape MTT-211NA. Demagnetized with SONY HE-3. NOS look and perfect functioning order. Recording tests (mic & tuner), perfect. Tested several hours with various tape types and brands, working perfectly. OEM stereo microphone, steel clip, 1 m cable. 3,5 mm jack. New rechargeable battery 1400 mAh. New USB charging unit (universal), can be used at home / car / travel with any USB 5V power adapter (500 & 1000 mA selectable – 500 recommended for the prismatic 7 / 5F6 batteries), auto cut-off when fully charged, all set of protections (reverse polarity / temperature / overcharge / short circuit). OEM AA battery case with 1,5 mm power input port. OEM 600 mAh battary with case that still works but. Has a low charge.
