This is a Sony cassette player. Since it is stored at home, there are scratches on the surface. Playback, fast forward, rewind, radio, etc. Have all been confirmed to work using dry batteries. I don’t think the remote control works as well. The internal rubber belt has been replaced with a new one. A separate battery is required for use. Boxed Sony Walkman WM-F702. This is probably my fave Walkman – released late in the game with loads of features – Dynamic Base Boost and Auto-Reverse. But I really love the styling – understated and classy! But to have it complete in it’s box in this condition is the real kicker – all original accessories and paperwork are included. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. It’s still new in it’s box – so the Walkman is pristine, not a single scratch, dent or bit of faded lettering. The box plastic has suffered from some sun damage. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and new belts installed along with a new Roller – the head, rollers and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, in both directions at the right speed with no wow or flutter. The radio works as it should. The Remote headphones work and control all functions. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. The Japanese battery charger requires 100V so you may need a power converter – it is untested. The battery is assumed to be useless. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis – sounds as good as the day it was new. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives. All in a compact metal shell. Ive installed a new belt, ensured the motor runs at the correct speed, worked out any static in the volume pot, cleaned the tape head and pinch rollers and also added a new CR2016 button cell battery for the radios memory presets. Mechanically everything operates as it should. Gears run smoothly and all buttons and switches work. Included with the Walkman is the AA battery/1.5v DC input adaptor and a 3.5mm headphone jack adaptor. It is in fair cosmetic condition with scratches along the body as shown in the photos. The battery adaptor as well as the gumstick battery bay are corrosion free. Both are tested and working. Preemptive care has been put in to keeping this player running however due to its age and the unavailability of original parts I cannot guarantee its longevity so please keep this in mind before purchasing.
