Hello and Welcome on. Walkman it looks good and is in very good working condition. The mechanism was restored and defective parts have been replaced with new ones such as the central gear (the cracked plastic part was changed with a new one) capstan rubber as well, the mechanical parts was cleaned and lubricated. All device features are in perfect working order, all works in normal parameters. T`s a pleasure to use it due to very powerful and clear sound. The walkman shows signs of wear and small scratches on the housing, don’t expect it to look like new, it is a used product and it shows normal signs of wear. The Walkman has been fully repaired and serviced. This was round 75 Euros. It should last for a long time again. As you already may know the DD Walkmans have really low wow and flutter due to its disc drive, so the sound is really great. The center gear always crack on these, so I have replaced it with a new one that is very similar as the factory one. The disc drive rubber was also replaced because it can have dents after some time. The rubber can become soft or dry out. It has been cleaned, oiled and greased on the inside but also on the outside. The outside of the Walkman looks great. On the top near one of the headphone sockets you see some little marks but nothing substantial. I would give this Walkman a good 9,7/10. Looks really really clean. Please note that it is hard to capture the true color. During daytime it look more dark pinkish red and when there is less light it looks more dark red. So it comes with its original protection case. The case is still in amazing condition. Usually the font fades. I also have 1 NOS Maxell UR cassette. Pinch roller and capstan ring. Mechanical in great condition everything is checked and lubricated. Optical there are light user marks but it is in overal good condition please look at. Photos to make your own judgment. On the plastic from the front door is a scratch. In particular the US and Canada have delays! Look at my other listings for more Walkmans and other vintage audio items! I’m very sorry to the majority of honest people out there but there are zero feedback members that don’t pay or scamming when the received the items. This results in the fact that i don’t sell items to zero feedback members. New center gear and not a repaired/glued one. When the gear is glued this results in higher wow-flutter, so less good sound quality. Why do the original gears always crack? Theyre usually made of POM material. This material is very reliable, long lasting and has very good friction properties. However, it has one negative property. It tends to shrink. It shrinks when it is heated, for example when player is left on sun or in car. By heating POM material to 60 C, it will shrink permanently about several percent. It also shrinks with time. Problem is, when this gear is installed on some other part, for example on metal axle. Plastic material shrinks, while meta one doesnt. High tension in plastic part will cause that it cracks. Some parts are made of other than POM material. This can be short lasting material, fragile, that breaks into several pieces after some time. Reason why this is important. It can curl (eat) some or all tapes. It can cause speed variations. It can cause azimuth instabilities. Playback can be randomly stopped. Is responsible for the correct tape speed.
