The mechanism was restored and defective parts have been replaced with new ones such as the central gear (the cracked plastic part was changed with a new one) and capstan rubber as well, the mechanical parts was cleaned and lubricated. The walkman shows signs of wear and small scratches on the housing, don’t expect it to look like new, it is a used product and it shows normal signs of wear. Sony’s legendary second Walkman model of the praised DD range, WM-DDII. It plays nicely tapes and it provides clear sound quality in stereo. REW and FF work great. Visually in nice condition apart from light scratches and small marks. Service what I have done to it. General cleaning of the interior and exterior. Cleaned the tape head. Cleaned the volume potentiometer and the tape type and Dolby NR switch. Cleaned and greased the mechanics. Replaced with a new center gear and rubber capstan ring. Sony’s flagship model of Walkman, the WM-DDII. This specimen plays nicely tapes as it provides. Nice sound quality in stereo. PLAY, FF and REW work well. Only problem is that the door doesn’t get locked because the replacement door hinge is not exactly at the right place. There’s also three holes left from the previous door hinge fix. Otherwise it’s in very nice visual condition. There isn’t battery lid. Service what I have done to it. General cleaning of the interior and exterior. Cleaned the tape head and pinch roller. Wiped well with cleaning cloth. Only downside is that it’s missing the window as you can see. You can still nicely use the Walkman. It’s easy to fix if you find an other door as it’s held only with two screws or then you find the window and glue it.
