SONY Sony WALKMAN DD QUARTZ Portable Cassette Player WM-DD9. There are a few signs of use such as scratches and minor scuffs from use. There are no noticeable scratches, damages, or dents, and the overall appearance is clean. Please check the pictures for details. The product is in good working condition. Operation has been checked with AA batteries and gum batteries. Playback, stop, fast forward, rewind, and auto-reverse (reverse) work fine. Playback speed is stable and normal on both sides A and B. No wah flutter or shaking is detected on either side A or B. Operation of each switching button on the main unit has been checked. Replaced parts: rubber belt2, pinch roller2, capstan tire2. Cleaned thoroughly of dust and dirt inside and out, including the exterior. Cleaned and lightly polished belt contact surfaces, replaced with high quality, durable belts equivalent to genuine drive belts. Pinch rollers have been lightly polished and cleaned (replaced if damaged or deteriorated). Capstan shaft lightly polished and cleaned. Head cleaned and demagnetized. No video for this one as I don’t have the headphone adaptor so I can’t record the audio from it. In near pristine condition – the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned, a new belt installed, head and the rollers and capstans have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in both directions, rewinds and fast-forwards and changes sides exactly as it should. Dolby B and C and the DBB Megabase functionality work perfectly. It still has the battery cover, original slip case and the battery terminals are corrosion free. I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives. It’s holy-grail time folks – these things are incredibly rare – made by Sony at the same time as the WM-DD9 (the greatest Personal Cassette player ever made) the WM-DX100 was similarly a no-compromise professional cassette player coupling Dolby C and the EX DBB (Megabass) system. This example is in beautiful used condition and genuinely is the best sounding Walkman I’ve ever had. With the all important headphone adaptor and AA battery case. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Very rare and sought-after Sony Walkman WM-DX100 in used condition. Sony Walkman WM-DX100 – Refurbished and working perfectly! I get really excited sometimes when I get my hands on some extremely rare Walkmans – and they don’t come any rarer than a WM-DX100. One of the last high-end Walkmans Sony made – it came alongside the best of them all the WM-DD9 – which had a separate motor controlling play in both directions (and contrary to a lot of reports that the WM-DD9 didn’t have any belts – it actually had 2) – the DX100 was effectively a baby WM-DD9 that uses a single direct-drive motor via a belt to drive play in both directions. It also provided Dolby C – one of the few Walkmans that did, again like the DD9 but also alongside other classic models like the DC2, 701C, 550C. This one seems to play perfectly now that the belt has been replaced – maybe a little quiet on one side on Dolby C – but it’s the box that make this really special – these are super rare, but I’ve never seen a boxed one ever, let alone boxed and working with all it’s original accessories and documents – this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this to your collection.
