Completely serviced WM-DD33 with new center gear and capstan ring. Completely cleaned and necessary parts are lubricated. All functions are working as they should be. Battery compartment is clean. Optical the Walkman has a user marks. Headphones have new cushions. Serial numbers box and Walkman are matching. In particular the US and Canada! I’m very sorry to the majority of honest people out there but there are zero feedback members that don’t pay or scamming when the received the items. This results in the fact that i don’t sell items to zero feedback members. New center gear and not a repaired/glued one. When the gear is glued this results in higher wow-flutter, so less good sound quality. Why do the original gears always crack? They’re usually made of POM material. This material is very reliable, long lasting and has very good friction properties. However, it has one negative property. It tends to shrink. It shrinks when it is heated, for example when player is left on sun or in car. By heating POM material to 60 C, it will shrink permanently about several percent. It also shrinks with time. Problem is, when this gear is installed on some other part, for example on metal axle. Plastic material shrinks, while meta one doesn’t. High tension in plastic part will cause that it cracks. Some parts are made of other than POM material. This can be short lasting material, fragile, that breaks into several pieces after some time. Reason why this is important. Up there in the list of Sony’s greatest Walkmans – this one sits just under the legendary WM-DD100 Boodo Khan. One of the few Walkmans that included Dolby C – this was aimed at professionals and had a separate Line Out and Headphone Socket. Like all the other “DD” Walkmans – the centre gear had split so it wouldn’t play – this has been replaced with the same kit as detailed in the “Walkman Archive Sony DD Repair Guide” – google it. This is the 23rd DD Gear I’ve replaced – so I know what I’m doing. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Or search “YouTube Yermawn”. In lovely used condition. Mechanically the centre gear had cracked so it’s been removed and replaced with a new one, cleaned the head, roller and volume potentiometers – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards exactly as it should. The volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. Battery terminals are corrosion free. The case is a little grubby but still useable. This Walkman is perfectly useable playing as good as the day it was new nearly 40 years ago! The headphones are new and boxed. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! If it IS as described and you change your mind – relist it yourself and feel free to reuse my Listing, Pictures and Video Link – you’ll probably make a profit! I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. No video for this one as I don’t have the headphone adaptor so I can’t record the audio from it. In near pristine condition – the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned, a new belt installed, head and the rollers and capstans have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in both directions, rewinds and fast-forwards and changes sides exactly as it should. Dolby B and C and the DBB Megabase functionality work perfectly. It still has the battery cover, original slip case and the battery terminals are corrosion free. I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives.
