SONY WM-701C FULLY SERVICED. The Walkman was completely disassembled, cleaned from old oil and grease and re-lubricated. New belt fitted, new pinch rollers, speed calibrated. Battery compartment is very clean, no acid leak. Battery cover is present. Sounds great, all functions and buttons are properly working. Unfortunately, the external battery holder and the headphone adaptor were lost, therefore a battery charger, a rechargeable battery, and an aftermarket headphone adaptor are included. The player is in great condition, considering its age, see pictures. Some minor scuffs and scratches on the Walkman. For collectors and ready to be used daily. Boxed Sony Walkman WM-701C. This is probably my fave Walkman – released late in the game with loads of features – Dynamic Base Boost, Auto-Reverse and one of only a handful of portable players made by anyone to include Dolby C. But I really love the styling – understated and classy! But to have it complete in it’s box in this condition is the real kicker – all original accessories and paperwork are included. It does have some minor issues – won’t rewind or fast-forward and the Stop button on the unit doesn’t work – but it plays perfectly in both directions and is a useable Walkman. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Still in it’s box – so the Walkman is pristine, not a single scratch, dent or bit of faded lettering. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and new belts installed along with a new Roller – the head, rollers and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, in both directions at the right speed with no wow or flutter. The Remote headphones work and control all functions. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It does have a couple of issues – it won’t rewind or fast-forward and the Stop button on the unit doesn’t work – but does via the remote. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. The Japanese battery charger may need a power converter – it is untested. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis – sounds as good as the day it was new. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! If it IS as described and you change your mind – relist it yourself and feel free to reuse my Listing, Pictures and Video Link – you’ll probably make a profit! I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives.
