Boxed Sony Walkman WM-701C. This is probably my fave Walkman – released late in the game with loads of features – Dynamic Base Boost, Auto-Reverse and one of only a handful of portable players made by anyone to include Dolby C. But I really love the styling – understated and classy! But to have it complete in it’s box in this condition is the real kicker – all original accessories and paperwork are included. It does have some minor issues – won’t rewind or fast-forward and the Stop button on the unit doesn’t work – but it plays perfectly in both directions and is a useable Walkman. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Still in it’s box – so the Walkman is pristine, not a single scratch, dent or bit of faded lettering. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and new belts installed along with a new Roller – the head, rollers and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, in both directions at the right speed with no wow or flutter. The Remote headphones work and control all functions. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It does have a couple of issues – it won’t rewind or fast-forward and the Stop button on the unit doesn’t work – but does via the remote. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. The Japanese battery charger may need a power converter – it is untested. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis – sounds as good as the day it was new. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! If it IS as described and you change your mind – relist it yourself and feel free to reuse my Listing, Pictures and Video Link – you’ll probably make a profit! I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives. Up for sale is something you’re likely to never see again, a Studer ReVox B710 Cassette Player that has been in the factory box, unopened since 1994. The original sales invoice is included. It has only been opened today for the first time since then, to take photos. Everything pictured is included, including the brand new remote, still in it’s box. Update Since so many people were asking about pictures of it out of the Sealed factory wrap, and it’s functionality, I decided to take it out and update the pictures. Also, because of it’s age and that it has sat in a box for the last 26 years…. We all know there will be the likelihood of some bad capacitors. I’m a tech so I went ahead and replaced all of the caps on the power supply, one on one of the logic boards, all of the caps on the playback PCB and some other misc caps that I found that I felt had drifted too far. There’s very few originals left but what’s there are still good. Most of the caps I use are 105 Lo ESR parts ensuring long reliable life. After all this I powered it up and popped in a few tapes and it works and sounds amazing. All functions work like new. There really is not a scratch on this thing, it looks like the day it left the factory.
