Sony Walkman WM-22 in very good condition and in full working order after service and belt change. The Walkman comes with a carry strap but no headphones. A new DeckTech belt has been fitted. Head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. Mechanism lubricated and motor oiled. Volume control pot cleaned with Deoxit. Circuit boards checked and cleaned. The play, rewind and fast forward functions are all working perfectly. A split cog on the clutch assembly has been replaced. Playback quality is very good (watch and listen to the video). The door and rear cover show evidence of minor abrasion and there is some scuffing on the left of the window (see and zoom on photos 4 & 11). Please study all the photographs carefully and use zoom where necessary. The battery cover is intact and fully functional. The foam cushion on the underside of the cover had degraded and has been replaced. The battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. If you intend to use your own set of headphones please note the guidance in photo 25 about the type of 3.5mm jack plug that is suitable for use with this model of Walkman. Sony Walkman WM-24 in very good condition and in full working order after service and belt change. The Walkman comes in its original serial numbered box with its original. Sony MDR-003 Headphones. Sony Carry Strap. User Manual. Polystyrene Insert and Cardboard Cover. A new DeckTech belt has been fitted. All the catalytic capacitors have been replaced with new ones from Farnell. Head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. Mechanism lubricated and motor oiled. Volume control pot cleaned with Deoxit. Circuit boards checked and cleaned. The play, rewind and fast forward functions are all working perfectly. The fast forward/rewind gear assembly has been fitted with a new, stronger circlip as the original had failed – this is a common repair issue in this series of Walkmans. Playback quality is very good (watch and listen to the video). There is some minor paint loss on edges of the door (see photos) but overall the Walkman is in excellent condition. The rear cover has been repainted using an appropriate plastic paint. Please study all the photographs carefully and use zoom to see finer detail. The battery cover is intact and fully functional. The foam cushion on the underside had degraded and has been replaced. The battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. SONY SPORTS CFS-930 Stereo Radio Cassette Player This is a fully functional unit that has been disassembled, serviced, and had its belt replaced. The SONY SPORTS CFS-930 is a stereo radio cassette player released around 1987, made in Japan. The SONY SPORTS series was a line of radio cassette players and Walkmans designed primarily for the North American market from the 1980s to the 1990s, emphasizing outdoor use with its splash-proof and shock-resistant design. Therefore, the SONY SPORTS series has a history of being viewed as a special, almost reverse-imported item by some fans. This unit is an early model of the SONY SPORTS series, an even earlier model before the adoption of the blue logo. It is extremely rare to see this model in Japan, making it a historically rare collector’s item for the SONY SPORTS series. The design is still linear and shares many similarities with regular boomboxes, giving the impression of the eve of the series’ establishment as a sports model. The logo is also understated, adding to the charm of the series’ early days. As an early dustproof and splashproof model, particular emphasis was placed on water resistance and robustness, giving it a tougher impression compared to later models. The impression changes depending on the attachment location, but personally, I prefer the stylish balance when attached to the side. Cassette tapes are not included. Product Condition This is a working unit that has undergone maintenance such as disassembly, cleaning, and belt replacement. This vintage unit has been treated to address common issues and magnetic residue on the heads, so you can enjoy music immediately. Appearance: There are some minor scratches and discoloration due to age, but they are not noticeable from the front, and the condition is very good. There are no tears or missing rubber parts. There is some sun damage on the top, which appears to be from a sticker, and a crack-like mark on the back (though not a crack). Please check the photos. While it looks clean in the images, there are minor scratches and dirt commensurate with its age. There may be some cracks that have been overlooked. Operation: Cassette operation has been confirmed. It features auto-reverse and DIR functions, which are not present in the CFS-920, and both function properly. Basic functions such as cassette playback, fast forward, and rewind work without problems. Due to the structural characteristics of this unit, there may be some slight mechanical noise during tape transport. It is hardly noticeable during music playback, but it may be audible during quiet or silent sections. This is within the natural range for a vintage mechanism. Not all functions have been checked. Maintenance Details Replaced the cassette drive rubber belt with a high-quality one and adjusted the tape speed. Cleaned and demagnetized the playback head and capstan (using a SONY head eraser). Cleaned the interior and exterior during disassembly. Removed as much dirt as possible from the exterior and finished with a polishing and protective agent.
