This unit is in excellent overall condition. All of the usual maintenance requirements and repair issues have been addressed. The D6 model is now over 40 years old and the fact that they keep on running shows that Sony came up with a superior design and used superior parts in this model. For this particular unit, the following repairs and maintenance were completed within the last couple of months. Removed and repaired the servo circuit unit. This repair fixed an issue with the deck running either too fast or not at all. Removed and repaired the playback muting module, which fixed the known issue of intermittent or distorted sound output. Replaced various rubber parts, including belt, capstan ring, and two idlers. Cleaned and lubed all mechanical linkages. Cleaned electrical jacks, volume slider and potentiometers. Removed and re-glued the plastic window on the tape door. Adjusted playback and recording levels. Tested the unit for several hours to ensure proper functioning. Cosmetically, there are no major flaws, but there are some very minor signs of typical wear. Battery holder had some minor corrosion that has been cleaned up. Case is in very nice condition. I do recommend using batteries with this unit, and not an AC adapter. This will protect it from accidental overvoltage or reverse polarity problems since there is very little circuit protection in both the D6 and D6C models.

The cracked gear was replaced with a new one. Works and sounds flawless again! Outside condition is very decent. Has only a few little scuffs and scratches. Comes with a protection case. The Walkman has been fully repaired and serviced. This was round 75 Euros. It should last for a long time again. As you already may know the DD Walkmans have really low wow and flutter due to its disc drive, so the sound is really great. The center gear always crack on these, so I have replaced it with a new one that is very similar as the factory one. The disc drive rubber was also replaced because it can have dents after some time. The rubber can become soft or dry out. It has been cleaned, oiled and greased on the inside but also on the outside. The outside of the Walkman looks great. On the top near one of the headphone sockets you see some little marks but nothing substantial. I would give this Walkman a good 9,7/10. Looks really really clean. Please note that it is hard to capture the true color. During daytime it look more dark pinkish red and when there is less light it looks more dark red. So it comes with its original protection case. The case is still in amazing condition. Usually the font fades. I also have 1 NOS Maxell UR cassette. Some may not know this, but the WM-F5 is the only DD (Disc Drive) Walkman by Sony with radio! That makes it quite unique. Not only does it sound amazing with very low wow and flutter but you can also listen to FM radio if you like. It is also water resistant but I would not advice to swim with it. It is fine in the rain. All holes and openings are sealed with rubber. This particular DD Walkman is harder to fix than your regular DD, DDII, DDIII DD30, DD33 or even the D3. It has much more switches to keep an eye on and more parts to remove. The antenna is soldered to the body so you also need to desolder it. I have replaced the center gear with a factory like gear. The disc drive rubber was also replaced. I have serviced many parts with oil and grease and cleaned the inside. The outside looks very good. Only minor scratches which is typical with these Walkmans. I have serviced it and replaced the broken center gear with a new one. The center gear I used is pretty much the same as from factory. So no gear you have to screw in and glue in. The disc drive rubber was also replaced by a new one. The rubbers can get dents over time so it is crucial to replace them aswell or else you get more wow and flutter. Not to mention more noise. As you can see the Walkman is almost in mint condition. The pinch roller is also still good so no need replacing it. It comes with the original case and headphones.
