Work Completed On This Unit As follows. All Internal dirt or dust removed and cleaned. New Idlers fitted were needed. New Pinch Rollers fitted or cleaned were needed. Capstan Cleaned and checked. Operational Parts Re-oiled / Greased Were required. Any Dry solder Joints Re-soldered. Capacitors replaced Were Required. Applied Contact Cleaner on all Switch’s, Contacts and Potentiometers. Re-align the Play head were required (Azimuth). Demagnetized Play Back Head and Tape Path. Speed Set with lab reference tape and oscilloscope. Full External sanitize and clean. Any other bespoke servicing or repair as required completed. All Functions checked were possible. Please Note: The unit is fully operational and functions as intended. Wow and Flutter: This is the waver in a reproduced tone or group of tones that is caused by irregularities in the tape drive speed during recording, duplication, or playing. For example, a change in the angular velocity of the capstan, or dragging of the tape audio cassette shell. The terms “wow and flutter” are often referred to together, flutter being a higher-rate version of wow. There are many factors that can increase wow and flutter mainly from age and use, this can be dirty or dry moving parts of the unit, including a dirty capstan, polished capstan, capstan bearings, dirty pinch roller/s, dirty head and dirty motor wheel after a belt change.
