Silver Sony Walkman WM-F30 & Case. Here’s a lovely early 80’s Sony Walkman WM-F30 – with it’s original case now playing as good as the day it was new! These very often suffer from cracked gears which makes them either play with a wobble or not at all – the gears in this one are perfect! Unlike everyone else out there I price my Walkman’s fairly – I just need to get my slice of the pie – this is priced to sell quickly and cheaper that the other Refurbished WM-30’s on. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. In lovely used condition. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and a new belt installed – the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards exactly as it should. Gears are checked and uncracked. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis – sounds as good as the day it was new and should not give you any trouble for years to come. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! Mechanically a couple of the gears were cracked and have been replaced from donor units – the belts had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and new belts installed – the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, only issue is that the B deck refuses to Fast Forward and will only rewind if you hold the button down a little – the other side rewinds and fast forwards perfectly. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. I see a lot of WM-20 and WM-30’s, but this Silver WM-20 is in incredible condition and working just as well as it did when it was new nearly 40 years ago. Sony Walkman WM-30 in Silver. Here’s a gorgeous Sony Walkman WM-30 – at the time it was produced it was The Worlds Smallest Personal Cassette Player! This Silver one is the one that everyone wants, it’s almost pristine and now that it’s been refurbished with a new belt, it plays just as beautifully as it looks! These WM-20’s and WM-30’s are getting really popular and are increasing in value. These commonly have 2 issues – either a swollen and jammed Pinch Roller or a cracked reel gear – this one is perfect. In beautiful condition, someone left a battery in it so there was a bit of corrosion on the Battery Terminal – but aside from a bit of rust on the terminal once that was scraped clean and a new belt installed – it still plays absolutely perfectly – as good as the day it was new. The head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter. There is an issue with rewind and fast-forward, it only works for a second and then stops – but it plays perfectly every time, still has it’s battery cover and it looks stunning! As for the boxed case, the box is a little sun faded and has some tape marks – but I reckon the case had never been out of the box before I took it out for the photos.
