Head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. Mechanism lubricated and motor oiled. Volume control pot cleaned with Deoxit. Circuit boards checked and cleaned. The play, rewind and fast forward functions are all working perfectly. A split cog on the clutch assembly has been replaced. Playback quality is very good (watch and listen to the video). The door and rear cover show evidence of minor abrasion and there is some scuffing on the left of the window (see and zoom on photos 4 & 11). Please study all the photographs carefully and use zoom where necessary. The battery cover is intact and fully functional. The foam cushion on the underside of the cover had degraded and has been replaced. The battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. Head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. Mechanism lubricated and motor oiled. Volume control pot cleaned with Deoxit. Circuit boards checked and cleaned. The play, rewind and fast forward functions are all working perfectly. The fast forward/rewind gear assembly has been fitted with a new, stronger circlip as the original had failed – this is a common repair issue in this series of Walkmans. Playback quality is very good (watch and listen to the video). There is some minor paint loss on edges of the door (see photos) but overall the Walkman is in excellent condition. The rear cover has been repainted using an appropriate plastic paint. Please study all the photographs carefully and use zoom to see finer detail. The battery cover is intact and fully functional. The foam cushion on the underside had degraded and has been replaced. The battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. This machine is expressly for VHS/SVHS capture. It is kind of unique in the line-TBC containing VCRs in that it has two composite and two S-Video outputs simultaneously making simultaneous capturing and monitoring easier than other models. It does contain a line TBC that can be activated or deactivated within button on the front or within the onscreen menus. I’ve also recapped some other areas that I’ve seen go bad on other units, so this should be among the most reliable units out there. Most will use this to archive VHS tapes via the analog outputs however, so the drive tends not to be used unless you are archiving to DVD instead. Only other thing I’ll mention is that the fan does not appear to turn off even when in standby and I’ve seen units that will and won’t do that. The fan is very quiet and you’re unlikely to notice it, but I’d recommend unplugging the unit if you don’t plan to use it for extended periods of time.
