Sony Walkman WM-22 in very good condition and in full working order after refurbishment. The Walkman comes with its original Sony carry strap but no headphones. A new DeckTech belt has been fitted. Head, pinch roller and capstan have been checked and cleaned. The head has been demagnetised. Mechanism lubricated and motor oiled. Volume control pot cleaned with Deoxit. Circuit boards checked and cleaned. The play, rewind and fast forward functions are all working perfectly. The fast forward/rewind gear has been fitted with a new top hat washer and circlip as the original had split (see photos 23 & 24) – this is a common repair issue in this series of Walkmans. Playback quality is very good (watch and listen to the video). The Walkman is in very good condition. The door back casing shows evidence of abrasion and there are a couple of surface scratches. The door also shows signs of abrasion but there are no serious scratches. Please study all the photographs carefully using zoom to see finer detail. The battery cover was missing and has been replaced with a well fitting 3D printed cover. The battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. If you intend to use your own set of headphones please note the guidance in photo 25 about the type of 3.5mm jack plug that is suitable for use with this model of Walkman. Is in excellent condition apart from some very small marks and signs of cosmetic wear as seen in photos, All buttons are present and work as they should, the battery compartment is clean, the volume raises/lowers without crackle and is fully operational functioning as intended. Item is located in the Preston PR5 area and you are more than welcome to view/collect item. Lloytron Radio/Cassette Player W183 – (Fully Operational) REFURBISHED. There is a small crack in the case that has been repaired and this unit has no. This unit sounds great and has Very Little. (see information below) and there are a few marks on the outer case. This is what you would expect of an item of this age, overall this is in brilliant visual and working condition. Work Completed On This Unit As follows. All Internal dirt or dust removed and cleaned. New Idlers fitted were needed. New Pinch Rollers fitted or cleaned were needed. Capstan Cleaned and checked. Operational Parts Re-oiled / Greased Were required. Any Dry solder Joints Re-soldered. Capacitors replaced Were Required. Applied Contact Cleaner on all Switch’s, Contacts and Potentiometers. Re-align the Play head were required (Azimuth). Demagnetized Play Back Head and Tape Path. Speed Set with lab reference tape and oscilloscope. Full External sanitize and clean. Any other bespoke servicing or repair as required completed. All Functions checked were possible. Please Note: The unit is fully operational and functions as intended. Everything that is shown in pictures is what it comes with and shows its condition, I have tried to describe the item to the best of my ability. Wow and Flutter: This is the waver in a reproduced tone or group of tones that is caused by irregularities in the tape drive speed during recording, duplication, or playing. For example, a change in the angular velocity of the capstan, or dragging of the tape audio cassette shell. The terms “wow and flutter” are often referred to together, flutter being a higher-rate version of wow. There are many factors that can increase wow and flutter mainly from age and use, this can be dirty or dry moving parts of the unit, including a dirty capstan, polished capstan, capstan bearings, dirty pinch roller/s, dirty head and dirty motor wheel after a belt change. A Worn belt, belt size, quality and pinch roller issue are also the main factors of wow and flutter. All these potential causes are meticulously checked during my refurbishments. Deformations in the cassette compartment can also be a cause, but this is obviously down to which cassette you use and its quality, I always advise a full REW and FF of an older tape before playing, which can help.
