Marantz 5030B 3-Head Cassette Deck – Custom Black Faceplate. 3-Head Stereo Cassette Deck. Late 1970s / Introduced 1978. 1 Record + 1 Playback + 1 Erase Head. Normal / CrO2 / FeCr. Custom Black Faceplate Finish. 120V AC / 60Hz – Standard U. Professionally Restored, Serviced, and Function-Tested. Very Good Vintage Condition. Custom Finish Disclosure: The black faceplate on this unit is a custom finish and is not being represented as a factory-original black-face version. Why the Marantz 5030B Stands Out. The Marantz 5030B is a late-1970s three-head cassette deck designed for simultaneous record/playback monitoring. Its separate record and playback heads allow the user to monitor the recorded signal directly from the tape while recording. The deck also provides Dolby B noise reduction, Normal / CrO2 / FeCr tape settings, microphone and line mixing, a master recording-level control, memory rewind, peak indication, and a DC-servo transport. Transport, Recording & Monitoring Architecture. Three Separate Heads: Record / Playback / Erase. True Off-Tape Monitoring during recording. Dolby B Noise Reduction. Normal / CrO2 / FeCr Tape Selection. Microphone + Line Mixing Capability. Memory Rewind / Peak Indication. Dual Analog VU Meters. HQaudios Restoration & Multi-Point Quality Control. Professionally Restored. Function-Tested. Recording & Playback Tested. As received, this Marantz 5030B showed the mechanical and age-related service needs typical of a vintage cassette deck. The original drive belt had deteriorated, and age-related contamination and oxidation affected the transport, tape path, controls, and switches. A full inspection of the front-loading transport, drive belt, capstan, pinch roller, idlers, three-head assembly, motor speed stability, record/playback circuitry, switches, controls, VU meters, indicators, and tape path was carried out to determine the work required for this specific unit. Based on the inspection results, this Marantz 5030B was restored according to HQaudios’ technical standards while preserving its original engineering and operating characteristics. The deteriorated original drive belt was replaced with a new belt, and tape speed was checked and adjusted. Transport linkages were cleaned and re-lubricated to restore smooth mechanical operation. The record, playback, and erase heads, along with the tape path, were thoroughly cleaned, and the heads were demagnetized. Switches and controls were cleaned and treated with contact cleaner to remove oxidation and restore reliable operation. Indicator and display illumination was inspected and serviced as required. The chassis, tape well, controls, and custom black faceplate were professionally cleaned and detailed. Once restoration was completed, the Marantz 5030B underwent comprehensive functional and operational testing. Play, Record, Fast Forward, Rewind, Auto-Stop, tape/source monitoring, Dolby B operation, tape selection, recording controls, VU meter response, and transport operation were checked. Finally, the deck underwent an extended recording and playback test to evaluate transport stability, audible pitch consistency, channel balance, off-tape monitoring, recording quality, and overall operational reliability before being approved for sale. Professionally Restored. ? New Drive Belt. ? Tape Path Serviced. ? Function-Tested. ? Recording & Playback Tested. Recording & Playback Character. The Marantz 5030B is designed for serious analog recording and playback, with its three-head architecture allowing true off-tape monitoring during recording. With a properly maintained transport, clean tape path, correctly selected tape formulation, and appropriate recording levels, the deck provides stable playback, useful recording control, and the classic analog cassette experience expected from a high-quality late-1970s deck. This unit presents in very good vintage cosmetic condition, with normal signs of age and previous use consistent with a late-1970s cassette deck. Custom Black Faceplate: The custom black front panel presents well overall, with contrasting lettering and control markings remaining clear and easy to read. Knobs / Controls / Keys: Controls and transport keys are intact and present well. Cassette Compartment: The front-loading tape door and tape well present cleanly. VU Meters / Indicators: Dual analog meters and indicator functions were checked during final testing. Chassis / Housing: The original metal chassis cover remains structurally solid with normal age-related wear. Please inspect all product photos closely; they show the exact unit and form an important part of the condition description. 3 Heads – 1 Record + 1 Playback + 1 Erase. Normal (Type I) / CrO2 / FeCr. 35Hz-14kHz Normal / 35Hz-17kHz CrO2 & FeCr. 17.4 W × 5.75 H × 11.7 D inches. This Marantz 5030B is configured for standard U. 120V AC / 60Hz operation and is ready for normal U. No step-down transformer is required for use in the United States. International buyers should verify local mains voltage and use an appropriate voltage transformer when required. The Marantz 5030B connects to vintage or modern amplifiers and receivers through standard line-level RCA inputs and outputs. Its styling makes it a natural visual companion for late-1970s Marantz components, while its standard line-level connections allow it to be used with many other stereo systems. One Marantz 5030B Stereo Cassette Deck with Custom Black Faceplate. The sale includes the Marantz 5030B cassette deck shown in this listing only. Operational video demonstration may be available upon request. Recording / playback and tape-monitor demonstration can be provided. A multi-item discount may be available when building a complete vintage system. Selected high-value vintage audio equipment may be considered for trade-in. Keep the heads, capstan, and tape path clean using appropriate cassette-deck cleaning materials. Avoid aggressive solvents on rubber components such as the pinch roller. Use clean, good-quality cassette tapes and avoid moldy, sticky, or physically damaged media. Do not force the mechanical transport keys. Vintage mechanical cassette decks require careful packing. This Marantz 5030B will receive protective coverage around the custom black faceplate, VU meters, cassette door, transport controls, knobs, corners, and rear connections, together with dense internal cushioning and a heavy-duty outer carton.
