Boxed Sony Walkman WM-R15. This is really special – I’m a sucker for a Boxed Walkman and this boxed WM-R15 shows Sony at the peak of their powers – doesn’t the packaging show it off beautifully. Imagine spotting that on the shelf of your local Electronic store sometime in 1982 – you’d just have to have it! It’s serviced and playing as well as the day it was new and comes with the all important Belt-Clip case. As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. In lovely used condition – please study the photos carefully. Mechanically the belt had completely disintegrated so a new belt has been installed – the head, rollers and capstans have been cleaned – so it now plays in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards as it should. It changes directions perfectly and plays just as well in both directions. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned, but the volume adjustment is still a little crackly until you hit the sweet spot. It plays perfectly – as good as the day it was new. Battery Contacts are corrosion free and the battery cover is present. The box is in fantastic condition. I have 10 years experience refurbishing 100’s of Walkmans! You get what you pay for – there won’t be any disappointment when it arrives – it will work as described! The volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. Battery terminals are corrosion free. The “Hotline” microphone also still works perfectly. MDR-3L2 headphones work perfectly. The Belt-Clip case is in really nice condition. It has it’s original Instructions, Cassette Case and Demonstration Tape. But don’t think I’ve ever had an original box in as nice a condition as this one and complete with all accessories. These often suffer from cracked gears – meaning either clicky playback or it just doesn’t play at all – this one still has it’s original gear intact and working. It’s still got all it’s original accessories including the elusive MDR4 Headphones – which also work perfectly. This has suffered s drop and somebody attempting to repair it with super glue during its life which some of will not come off please see photos for this! This has been Restored as much as possible it functions perfectly and has a new belt fitted. Without the glue marks and damaged lid it would be in fantastic near new condition. The polystyrene insert is mint. The Walkman has no signs of use – there are a few marks on the sides of the plastic button surround – from sitting in it’s case for 40 years – but is otherwise mint. It has been refurbished, belts changed, head and roller cleaned and the volume potentiometers cleaned. So it plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed without wow or flutter. It rewinds and fastforwards as it should. The weird hotline mic works and the volume adjusts evenly without dropout. The case is like new. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and a new belt installed – the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards exactly as it should. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. The box is also nearly perfect – a little tear up in the top corner and the plastic perspex window is very brittle – there’s a slither missing on one side and a crack on the other side – but not terribly noticeable when on display. Boxed & Complete Sony Walkman WM-101. God these things are a pain to get working – I have 6 WM-101’s, I gave up on the first 3 I tried to get working perfectly – but finally stuck gold with this one. A little slow to start up and maybe a little quieter on one side – but I’m really nit-picking, it’s pretty much working perfectly and is 100% useable. But the coolest thing about this is obviously the fact that it’s in its original box and it 100% complete with all the correct accessories and documentation! These are only going up in value! As with all my refurbished Walkmans you don’t have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. I’m not a professional sound engineer – I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world – the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed – otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. Very rare and sought-after Sony Walkman WM-101 in it’s original box, complete with all it’s original accessories, in pristine condition. Mechanically it’s working perfectly, the old belts had perished so I’ve replaced it, cleaned the head, rollers, and capstans so now it plays perfectly at the correct speed in both directions with minimal wow and flutter, rewinds and fast-forwards. The battery contacts are corrosion free and the original Headphones are in stunning condition and work perfectly! The original gumstick battery is assumed to be unuseable and the battery charger is untested and requires a 100v power supply so may need a power converter. I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself. I do not extensively test these over periods of hours/days – I don’t have the time. My only guarantee is that it should work as you see in the video when it arrives. Boxed & Complete Sony Walkman WM-30 in Red with 1985 Sony Walkman Catalog. This is so cool, these WM-20 and WM-30’s are getting so popular over the past couple of years – prices are just going up. And here’s a virtually pristine WM-30 in my favourite colour – Red. I love the way the light catches the brushed metal finish and makes it almost glow. The original headphones have clearly never been removed from the box and therefore work perfectly. The Japanese Walkman Catalogue from 1985 is absolutely perfect. I think this really was Sony in their. At this time which is confirmed by the roster of some of their best Walkmans that featured this year, Along with the headlining WM-30, it features the WM-20 and (my favourite Walkman of them all) their big brother the WM-40, but also the WM-D6C, WM-DC2 and WM-DD2 – as well as a bunch of very colourful Boomboxes at the back. Anyway, I think this is very special – museum condition stuff, I’d love to keep them myself, but the wife wants a new sofa so there it is – some other lucky fella’s going to get it instead. In lovely used condition – the belt had turned to goo so I’ve installed a new belt – the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned – so it now plays perfectly, in stereo, at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards exactly as it should. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are corrosion free. I’m not an audio engineer which is why I include a video so you can hear it play and judge for yourself.
